Horse Back Safaris

Horse back safaris Game viewing on horseback is an awesome experience, whether it is a simple viewing of a Masai Giraffe shaded under an acacia tree or a herd of Elephant as they browse at sundown, the poetry of horse riding in game rich areas is unique.

The peace and tranquillity of a traditional safari on horseback almost defies description with no noise pollution and the ability to get close to plains game creates an experience that is so far removed from regular game-viewing.

During the green season between December and March our own private concession, The Ngaroi, has a small stable of horses to hack with across the open plains and ridges overlooking the Serengeti National Park.

Guided by Janice Beatty, an excellent lifelong horsewoman, small groups can experience the true freedom of an African Horseback Safari either early morning, late afternoon or for an overnight away from the main camp in one of our non-traditional fly camps.

Some riding experience is essential with particular note to the English tack that we prefer to ride with. It is essential that anyone wishing to explore with us on horseback is able to ride “leg on” and is comfortable with this type of riding.

The Safari on Horseback combined with our own Wilderness Camp plus Game Walking and Night Game Drives in Tanzania is a Wildlife Explorer exclusive.

Botswana , Kenya and South Africa also have Horseback Safaris that can be combined with any of our traditional safaris.
